In a shocking incident, a 58-year-old police officer was discovered murdered inside his bedroom in Bihar's Bhojpur district on Saturday morning. The grim discovery sent waves of alarm through the quiet Bhagwatpur village under the jurisdiction of the Chandi police station.
Victim Identified as Police Driver from Hazaribagh
The deceased has been identified as Pashupati Nath Tiwari, who served as a police driver and was posted in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. According to his elder brother, Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, Pashupati had returned to his ancestral home in Bhagwatpur village the previous Sunday. The visit was prompted by news of a theft that had occurred at the family residence a few days earlier.
"My brother had come home with his wife last Sunday after learning about the theft," Bharat Bhushan recounted. He described the chilling final hours, stating that on Friday night, Pashupati and his wife were warming their hands in the courtyard after dinner before retiring to their respective rooms for the night. The family was left in utter shock when they found Pashupati dead in his bedroom the following morning.
Police Swiftly Begin Investigation
Upon receiving the information, a team of senior police officials rushed to the scene. Ara Sadar SDPO-2 Ranjit Kumar Singh and Chandi Station House Officer (SHO) Rakesh Roshan led the response, arriving with other personnel to initiate a thorough investigation. The initial evidence suggested the use of a sharp-edged weapon in the commission of the crime.
The body of Havildar Tiwari was subsequently sent to the Sadar hospital in Ara for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. In a significant development, a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was also summoned to the village to assist in gathering scientific evidence from the crime scene.
Motive Unclear as Family Rules Out Enmity
Adding to the mystery surrounding the case, family members have asserted that the deceased police officer had no known enmity with anyone. This claim has prompted investigators to widen their net. Police officials stated that they are probing all possible angles to ascertain the precise motive behind the murder and identify the culprits responsible for this brutal act.
"The FSL team is assisting our investigation. We are working to identify the culprits, and they will be arrested soon," affirmed a police official involved in the case. The investigation remains active, with authorities combing through every detail to piece together the events that led to the tragic death of the police havildar in his own home.
