Bhopal Gang Violence Erupts in Gautam Nagar, Panic Ensues
In a shocking incident that unfolded late Monday night, more than half a dozen miscreants allegedly created widespread panic in the Gautam Nagar area of Bhopal. The accused not only vandalized multiple vehicles in a residential neighborhood but also fired shots using a Diwali-style firecracker gun, leading residents to initially fear actual gunfire was occurring on the streets.
Police Swiftly Respond, Three Arrested Including Main Accused
Gautam Nagar police have taken decisive action by apprehending three individuals, including the primary accused, into custody. The investigation has revealed that the violent episode stemmed from a dispute related to a molestation case, highlighting underlying tensions in the community.
Attack Linked to Gang Rivalry and Molestation Dispute
The incident reportedly began near PGBT College, where four accused, accompanied by three associates, attempted to target a 17-year-old juvenile offender due to gang rivalry. Armed with swords and other weapons, the group arrived with malicious intent. When they failed to locate the juvenile, their frustration escalated, leading them to vandalize parked vehicles in the area.
As they departed, the attackers fired shots using a firecracker gun, causing loud blasts that terrified residents. Police have uncovered that the attack was motivated by the accused receiving information that the juvenile offender had been harassing the sister of one of their friends. Despite the girl filing a complaint with authorities, the accused allegedly continued his actions, prompting this retaliatory violence.
Juvenile Offender Has Criminal Background, Another Incident Reported
The juvenile involved in this case is known to have a criminal background, adding complexity to the situation. In a related development, another violent criminal incident occurred in Gautam Nagar, this time over a staring dispute. Gulfaam, a 31-year-old tailor, was brutally stabbed by accused individuals, including the same juvenile from the first case. Police have arrested two accused in this stabbing, but the juvenile remains at large, according to official statements.
This series of events underscores ongoing security challenges in the area, with authorities urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.
