Bhopal Police Launches Special Probe into Beef Recovery Incident

Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra has taken decisive action in Bhopal. He has constituted a Special Investigation Team to thoroughly probe the case involving beef recovery from a truck near Lal Parade Ground. This move follows recent sackings at a slaughterhouse and subsequent protests against the Bhopal Municipal Corporation.

SIT Composition and Mandate

The Special Investigation Team will be led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Umesh Tiwari. Two Station House Officers will assist him with their teams. SHO Jehangirabad and SHO Shahpura will work under ACP Tiwari's leadership.

The team has received clear instructions from Police Commissioner Mishra. They must examine all facts related to the incident. Their investigation will cover the background of involved individuals. They will check for possible links between suspects. The team will also verify whether any participants have previous criminal records.

Expanding Investigation Scope

Police authorities have confirmed the probe will extend beyond immediate suspects. BMC officials associated with the slaughterhouse will face questioning. Investigators will trace the meat's source thoroughly. They aim to identify everyone involved in the alleged illegal meat trafficking racket.

Preparations are currently underway to question close associates of Aslam Qureshi. Qureshi operated the slaughterhouse at the center of this controversy. Police will take further action based on the SIT's findings.

Background of the Case

The incident originated on the night of December 17. Members of right-wing organizations intercepted a truck loaded with meat near Lal Parade Ground. These activists alleged the truck was transporting beef illegally.

Police and senior officials responded quickly to the information. They reached the spot and seized the truck immediately. Authorities arrested the driver at the scene.

Investigators sent samples of the seized meat for laboratory testing. The lab report confirmed the presence of beef in the samples. This confirmation triggered several immediate actions.

  • Police arrested the accused individuals
  • Bhopal Municipal Corporation suspended approximately a dozen officials
  • Authorities sealed the slaughterhouse operated by Aslam Qureshi
  • BMC declared the slaughterhouse permanently closed

The Special Investigation Team now faces the challenging task of unraveling this complex case. Their work will determine the complete chain of involvement in this alleged illegal meat trafficking operation.
