Bhopal: Sword Attack in Ashok Vihar Leaves Two Brothers Seriously Injured
Bhopal: Two Brothers Attacked with Swords in Ashok Vihar

A violent and pre-planned assault with sharp-edged weapons shook the Ashok Vihar locality in Bhopal's Ashoka Garden area on Tuesday night, leaving two brothers with serious injuries. The Ashoka Garden police acted swiftly, registering an attempt to murder case and arresting nearly a dozen individuals, including several family members and minors, within hours of the incident.

What Triggered the Violent Clash?

According to the police, the roots of the violence lay in an old dispute. The incident escalated when the complainant, Kartikey Yadav, a resident of Ashok Vihar Nagar Nigam Colony, was allegedly subjected to verbal abuse by his neighbour, Sarfaraz Khan, and an associate. The immediate intervention by Kartikey's mother and a local shopkeeper initially defused the situation, leading the accused to leave the spot.

However, the tension was far from over. Police officials stated that Sarfaraz soon returned, but this time he was not alone. He was accompanied by his family members and four to five other associates, all allegedly armed with knives and swords. The group then forcibly entered Kartikey Yadav's house with a clear intent to attack.

A Brutal Attack with Sharp-Edged Weapons

Inside the house, the armed assailants launched a brutal attack on Kartikey and his brother, Anuj Yadav. The police investigation suggests the attack was carried out with the intention to kill. The brothers sustained severe wounds in the assault.

Kartikey Yadav suffered injuries to his head, right ear, and left shoulder. His brother, Anuj Yadav, received even more critical wounds, with injuries to his abdomen, chest, and arm. Both victims were rushed for medical treatment following the violent encounter.

Swift Police Action and Arrests

Acting on the complaint, the Ashoka Garden police, under Station House Officer Anurag Lal, immediately registered a case of attempt to murder. In a prompt operation, the police team arrested the accused within hours of the crime.

The police have arrested five adults and detained four minors in connection with the case. The arrested adults have been identified as:

  • Salim Khan (47)
  • Shabnam Khan (34)
  • Nayab Khan (21)
  • Sarfaraz Khan (18)
  • Aftab Khan (20)

All the accused are residents of Ashok Vihar Colony. The police have also recovered the sharp-edged weapons, including swords and knives, allegedly used in the assault.

The case highlights how a longstanding local dispute can erupt into extreme violence, endangering lives and disrupting community peace. The swift arrest of the accused showcases the police's responsiveness to serious crimes in the state capital.
