Security has been dramatically intensified across Bihar after a bomb explosion rocked the national capital, with authorities taking unprecedented measures ahead of the crucial second phase of assembly elections scheduled for Tuesday.
Election Security on High Alert
The Bihar police force has been placed on maximum alert following the disturbing incident in Delhi. With voting set to occur in 122 constituencies across 20 districts, security protocols have been significantly enhanced to ensure public safety during this critical democratic process.
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Pankaj Darad confirmed that the state was already maintaining high vigilance due to the ongoing polls. "In light of the Delhi blast, we instructed all superintendents of police to enforce strict vigilance at sensitive places and key locations in their respective districts," Darad stated.
Comprehensive Security Measures Implemented
Authorities have issued directives for rigorous checks in crowded public spaces, including religious sites, markets, transport hubs, and other areas experiencing high foot traffic. The security net has been cast wide to cover all potential vulnerable points across the state.
"In districts where elections were already held, forces are fewer, but in light of Delhi's bomb blast, forces have been deployed there too," Darad explained. "All districts are on high alert, particularly sensitive locations frequented by tourists or containing religious sites."
Railway stations, metro stations, airports, and bus terminals have been placed under heightened security with increased frisking and checking procedures. The comprehensive approach aims to leave no security gaps that could be exploited.
Border Sealed and VVIP Security Challenges
In one of the most significant moves, the India-Nepal border has been completely sealed until the night of November 11, suspending all cross-border movement of people during this period as part of the enhanced security protocol.
Bihar Director General of Police Vinay Kumar highlighted additional challenges posed by the influx of VVIPs for election campaigning. "Comprehensive security deployments are operational statewide. The Delhi incident led us to further strengthen our surveillance," Kumar said.
The security apparatus remains on high alert as Bihar prepares for the final phase of voting, with authorities determined to prevent any disruption to the electoral process while ensuring public safety remains paramount.
