Tragic Hit-and-Run Claims Life of Bihar Man on Gurgaon Highway

A 29-year-old man from Bihar, who had come to Gurgaon in search of employment, tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run accident on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. The incident occurred near Rajiv Chowk on Thursday night, around 10:30 PM, when an unidentified vehicle struck the victim, Vinod Kumar Das, a resident of Samastipur district in Bihar.

Family's Desperate Search and Police Investigation

After his phone became unreachable later that night, family members initiated a frantic search for Vinod Kumar Das. On Friday afternoon, police from the Shivaji Nagar police station contacted the victim's family after discovering a damaged mobile phone and a slip of paper with a phone number in his pocket. The victim's brother-in-law, Tuntun Das, who works as a cook in DLF Phase-2, rushed to the police station and later identified the body at the Gurgaon mortuary.

Authorities reported that they received information about the body from the government hospital in Sector 10, where the man was brought dead following the accident. In his complaint, Tuntun stated that his sister had called him early Friday morning, expressing concern that her husband had not returned home from Gurgaon.

Legal Action and FIR Registration

An FIR has been registered under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death due to negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against an unknown driver. The police are actively investigating the case to identify and apprehend the responsible individual.

This heartbreaking incident highlights the dangers on busy highways and the plight of migrant workers seeking better opportunities in urban areas. The community and authorities are urged to enhance safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
