Tragic Hit-and-Run Claims Young Lives on Patna Highway
In a heartbreaking incident that has left a community in mourning, two young men lost their lives in a devastating hit-and-run accident on National Highway-31 near Patna. The tragic event occurred late Friday night close to Dahaur village, within the jurisdiction of Barh police station, when an unidentified vehicle struck their motorcycle from behind.
Victims Identified as Young Workers Returning for Wedding
The deceased have been identified as Amit Kumar (20) and Rahul Kumar (21), both residents of Malahi village in Barh. The young men, who worked as laborers in Gujarat, had returned to their hometown just days earlier to participate in family wedding celebrations.
According to police reports, the tragedy unfolded when the duo was traveling to Dahaur village to deliver food for the wedding feast. A speeding vehicle, whose identity remains unknown, collided with their motorcycle from behind with such force that it propelled both riders approximately 10 feet off the road.
Severe Impact and Aftermath
The collision proved so powerful that it severely damaged the motorcycle and caused one of the victims to strike a 10-foot high corrugated sheet on a roadside house. Local residents discovered the bodies on Saturday morning and immediately alerted authorities.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police personnel from Barh police station rushed to the accident site. After conducting preliminary investigations, they informed the grieving families and transferred the bodies to Barh Sub-Divisional Hospital for postmortem examination.
Brajkishor Singh, the Station House Officer of Barh, confirmed that both young men died instantly at the scene. "An unknown vehicle hit the bikers from behind and sped away. Both died on the spot. Police are investigating the matter," stated SHO Singh.
Police Launch Manhunt for Fleeing Vehicle
Authorities have initiated a comprehensive search operation to locate the vehicle and driver responsible for the fatal accident. The investigation continues as police work to identify the vehicle that fled the scene after causing the tragic deaths of these two young men who had returned home for what should have been a joyous family occasion.
