Three Arrested in Bijnor Magistrate Home Burglary Case
Police in Bijnor have made significant progress in a burglary case that shocked the local community. Three individuals, including two women, now face charges related to the theft at the official residence of the principal magistrate of the juvenile justice board.
Stolen Gold Ornaments Provide Crucial Lead
Investigators revealed that a set of stolen gold ornaments became the key to cracking this case. Police traced these items to the girlfriend of the prime accused. This discovery provided the breakthrough officers needed to move forward with arrests.
The burglary occurred at the magistrate's home in Awas Vikas Colony. Thieves made off with jewellery, cash, and electronic items during the incident reported on December 30.
CCTV Footage and Questioning Yield Results
Security camera footage from the area proved instrumental in the investigation. The video placed Sonu Sharma, a resident of Kutia Colony, near the scene around the time of the burglary.
Authorities already had Sharma in custody for an unrelated motorcycle theft case in Najibabad. When questioned about the magistrate's home burglary, he confessed to the break-in. Sharma admitted he handed the stolen jewellery to his girlfriend Kirti Verma and her brother Manoj Verma.
Arrests Made During Attempted Sale
Police moved quickly once they had this information. A joint team from Kotwali police station and the special operations group intercepted Kirti Verma and another woman named Rita. The two were attempting to sell the stolen jewellery when officers arrested them.
Kirti Verma, originally from Bijnor but now living in Rishikesh, is a widow. Rita accompanied her during the attempted sale and now faces charges as a co-conspirator. Manoj Verma remains at large as search efforts continue.
Recovered Items and Legal Proceedings
Police have recovered substantial stolen property including:
- Two gold chains
- Four bangles
- Five pairs of rings
- A yellow coin
- An LCD television
- Mobile accessories
- A trolley bag with clothes and shoes
- Rs 25,000 in cash
Circle Officer (City) Sangram Singh provided details about the case. "Police received a tip-off about the theft on December 30," he stated. "We registered a case under BNS sections 305(1), 317(2), and 61(2). Three accused have been arrested and most stolen property has been recovered. Our efforts continue to trace the others."
Distribution of Stolen Goods and Criminal History
Investigators determined that the stolen items were distributed among people close to the accused. While Kirti and Rita did not participate in the actual burglary, they helped conceal and dispose of the stolen property.
Their arrests allowed police to connect this house break-in with a group already under investigation for theft activities. Police records show that prime accused Sonu Sharma has a previous criminal history that includes a murder case.
Officers credited multiple investigative techniques for solving this case. Surveillance footage analysis, digital tracking methods, and strategic questioning of suspects already in custody all contributed to the breakthrough.
