Bijnor Woman's Fabricated Robbery Story Unravels During Police Investigation
In a dramatic turn of events in Bijnor's Mandora village, a 30-year-old woman's elaborate attempt to stage a robbery to seize family jewellery has been completely exposed after her inconsistent statements raised serious suspicion during police questioning. The incident, which was initially reported as a burglary, has now been revealed as a carefully orchestrated deception to conceal a previous theft within the family.
Initial Robbery Claim and Suspicious Inconsistencies
The case began when Shivani Devi filed a police report claiming that three burglars posing as beggars had looted her house on February 7. However, during the subsequent investigation, her version of events began to show significant cracks that immediately alerted authorities to potential fabrication.
Bijnor Superintendent of Police Abhishek Jha detailed how Shivani repeatedly changed her account of the alleged robbery during multiple interactions with investigators. "She initially claimed that the cupboard was opened with an iron rod and later said a heavy hammer was used. She also gave different timings of the incident during each interaction," SP Jha explained, highlighting the inconsistencies that first raised red flags.
Family Members' Unawareness Deepens Suspicion
Investigators grew increasingly suspicious when Shivani's relatives, despite being in constant communication with her, revealed they were completely unaware of any robbery details. This discrepancy between Shivani's claims and her family's knowledge further undermined her story and prompted a more thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime.
The Truth Revealed: Previous Theft and Self-Inflicted Injury
The comprehensive police probe ultimately uncovered that Shivani had actually stolen 14 tolas of gold and 100 grams of silver belonging to her sister-in-law three days earlier, on February 4, when the latter was away from the residence. To conceal this theft and create a plausible cover story, she allegedly inflicted a knife wound on herself and fabricated the entire burglary narrative.
Police successfully recovered the stolen jewellery from Shivani's parental home in Bisaath village, providing concrete evidence of the actual crime that had taken place. The investigation revealed a complex family dynamic that had motivated the elaborate deception.
Legal Action and Arrests
Authorities registered a case against three accused individuals under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused include Shivani of Mandora village, her brother's wife Sanjo Devi, and nephew Golu alias Pankaj Kumar from Bisaath village. "All the accused were arrested and sent to jail on Tuesday. The stolen ornaments have been recovered," confirmed SP Jha, bringing closure to the investigation that exposed the staged robbery plot.
This case serves as a significant example of how thorough police investigation and attention to detail can unravel even the most carefully constructed false narratives. The Bijnor police's diligence in questioning inconsistencies ultimately revealed the truth behind what initially appeared to be a straightforward robbery case.
