Nashik Suicide Case: Black Magic Act Invoked After 27-Year-Old's Death
Black Magic Act added to Nashik woman's suicide case

The Panchavati police in Nashik have invoked sections of the stringent Black Magic Act in the tragic suicide case of 27-year-old Neha Pawar. This significant legal step was taken after investigators discovered articles commonly used in occult rituals at her husband's residence in the Hirawadi area.

A Tragedy Unfolds: Poison, Note, and Arrests

Neha Pawar consumed poison and died on November 26, following alleged sustained torture by her husband, Santosh Pawar, and his family members. The harassment was reportedly over monetary demands and other domestic issues. A formal case was registered the very next day, leading to the swift arrest of Santosh and four of his family members.

In a detailed seven-page suicide note, Neha painted a harrowing picture of her marital life. She alleged that her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law, colluding with her husband, subjected her to relentless mental and physical harassment to extort money. In a shocking revelation, the note also claimed that her in-laws forcibly made her undergo a virginity test soon after her marriage to Santosh in June this year.

The Final Message and Quest for Justice

In her final moments, Neha photographed the suicide note and sent it to her brother via WhatsApp. Upon receiving the distressing message, her brother rushed to her home and found her unconscious. She was immediately admitted to a private hospital but succumbed during treatment.

Her death sparked outrage among relatives, who gathered outside the Panchavati police station demanding justice and stringent punishment for the accused. The police acted promptly after the FIR was filed. The five arrested family members were first remanded in police custody until November 30, and later, the local court extended their remand until December 3.

The Black Magic Angle and Ongoing Probe

A senior officer from the Panchavati police station confirmed to reporters that the probe took a new turn with the discovery of black magic-related articles. The police have also identified the tantrik (black magic practitioner) who supplied these rare items. Authorities have stated that this individual will be thoroughly questioned to ascertain his role in the entire case.

The addition of the Black Magic Act sections intensifies the legal proceedings, reflecting the gravity of the findings at the crime scene. The investigation continues as police piece together the full sequence of events that led to this young woman's extreme step.
