Blood Bank Employee Assaulted at Phagwara Civil Hospital

A blood bank employee at Civil Hospital Phagwara was allegedly assaulted by two unidentified youths while performing his official duties on Monday morning, prompting police to register a case and launch an investigation.

Incident Details

According to the complaint lodged by Dharminder Kumar, a resident of Satnampura, Phagwara and an employee posted at the blood bank of the Civil Hospital, the incident took place at around 8:30 am. He stated that he was on duty when he was informed about two youths creating a disturbance near the hospital premises. When he questioned them about allegedly damaging a bathroom door, the youths became aggressive and started abusing him.

Nature of Assault

The complainant alleged that one of the accused slapped him near his eye while the other punched him on the nose. He further stated that one of the assailants, known locally as “Pandit,” allegedly grabbed his head and struck it against a wall with the intention of causing serious injury. After he fell to the ground, the accused reportedly continued the assault.

Identification of Accused

Dharminder Kumar said the accused frequently visit a nearby de-addiction centre for medication and that he would be able to identify them. He alleged that the attack not only caused injuries but also obstructed him from performing his official duties. Police officials said efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
