Gorakhpur: The body of a 32-year-old man was found floating in a drain near Banjari bridge in the Motiram Adda area under Jhangha police limits on Monday morning. Family members alleged that some miscreants killed him before dumping his body in the drain.
Victim Identified
The deceased was identified as Lal Bahadur Nishad, a resident of Avadhpur Daroga Ji Chhawani in the Chauri Chaura area. According to police, few morning walkers first spotted the body around 5:30 am and alerted the authorities. Police reached the scene and, with the help of locals, recovered the body from the drain.
Police Investigation
Police said no visible injury marks were found on the body. However, the body has been sent for postmortem. SP North Gyanendra Kumar said the cause of death would be clear only after the postmortem report. He added that police are investigating the case from all possible angles.
The incident has sparked tension in the area, with family members demanding a thorough investigation and strict action against the culprits. Police have registered a case and are questioning locals to gather clues.
