Bomb Threat Email Prompts Security Alert at Bihar Legislative Assembly
The Bihar legislative assembly was thrust into a security crisis on Friday after officials received a bomb threat through an email, according to police statements. Authorities have swiftly mobilized resources to investigate the premises and ensure safety.
Police Confirm Threat and Initiate Response
Sachiwalay-1 Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Anu Kumari provided details to PTI, confirming the alarming development. "We received information that an email containing a bomb threat was received by Bihar legislative assembly officials," she stated. Police are conducting a thorough and meticulous inspection of the assembly complex to verify the threat's credibility.
In response to the email, law enforcement has deployed specialized units, including bomb disposal squads and dog squads, to scour the area. An intensive search operation is currently underway, with officers leaving no stone unturned to assess any potential risks.
History of Similar Hoax Threats
This incident echoes a previous security scare at the assembly. On March 13, the legislative body received a similar bomb threat, which was later determined to be a hoax after extensive investigations. The recurrence of such threats highlights ongoing security challenges and the need for vigilance.
Police officials have not yet disclosed further details about the email's origin or content, but they emphasize that all protocols are being followed to handle the situation with utmost seriousness. The assembly's operations may be affected as the search continues, with authorities prioritizing public safety and legislative security.
