Bomb Threat Hoaxes Target Ranchi Civil Court and XLRI Jamshedpur
On Tuesday, the Ranchi civil court and the prestigious XLRI business school in Jamshedpur were both targeted with alarming bomb threat emails. The threats, which warned of explosions on their premises, triggered immediate emergency responses from local authorities. However, after thorough searches by police and specialized squads, both incidents were confirmed to be hoaxes with no suspicious materials discovered.
Emergency Response and Evacuation at XLRI
Immediately upon receiving the threatening email, XLRI Jamshedpur authorities alerted district police, setting in motion a comprehensive emergency protocol. The police swiftly evacuated the entire business school campus as a precautionary measure, ensuring the safety of all students, faculty, and staff.
The bomb disposal squad and sniffer dog units were deployed to conduct meticulous searches across the premises. Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey reassured the public, stating, "All were evacuated from the college premises and a thorough search is underway. People shouldn't panic."
Ranchi Civil Court's Third Threat Incident
Meanwhile, the Ranchi civil court received what police identified as its third such threatening email in recent months. Kotwali Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Soy reported that authorities conducted an extensive search of the court premises following the threat.
"We conducted a thorough search on the court premises. Nothing suspicious was found," Soy confirmed, indicating this latest threat followed a pattern of previous hoaxes targeting the judicial institution.
Ongoing Cyber Investigation
The district police cyber cell has launched an examination of the threatening emails to identify their source and determine potential motives behind these coordinated hoaxes. This investigation aims to:
- Trace the origin of the threatening communications
- Identify any patterns connecting the multiple incidents
- Develop preventive measures against future threats
- Ensure public safety and institutional security
While both institutions have resumed normal operations following the all-clear from authorities, the incidents highlight ongoing security challenges facing public institutions and educational establishments in the region. Police continue to monitor the situation and maintain heightened vigilance against similar threats in the future.
