Udupi: A tragic incident occurred on Friday when a 12-year-old boy, Abdul Rehman, lost his life after being struck by a car while crossing the road near Jyothinagar in the Nejar village of Udupi taluk. The accident took place around 12:45 pm, according to a complaint filed by the boy's mother, Musarrath (45), a resident of Adarsh Nagar, Nejar.
Musarrath stated in her complaint that she was returning home on a scooter with her daughter Sara and younger son Rehman after visiting a school to collect books. As they approached the mosque at Jyothinagar in Mooduthonse village, Rehman got down from the scooter and attempted to cross the road. Upon reaching the other side, a car traveling from Santhekatte towards Kemmannu allegedly struck him. The complaint further alleged that the car was being driven in a rash and negligent manner.
The impact of the collision threw the boy onto the road, causing severe bleeding injuries to the back of his head and his right leg. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him 'dead on arrival.' The Malpe police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they work to bring the responsible driver to justice.
