A tragic incident has been reported from Gumla district in Jharkhand, where a 7-year-old boy was allegedly strangled to death by unidentified persons under Raidih police station limits late on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Naveen Kumar Singh, son of Hemant Singh, a marginal farmer. The incident occurred at Kasir-Jamtoli village.
Incident Details
According to police, Naveen was playing with other children near his house while his parents were working in the fields. His elder sister was at home at the time. When Hemant and his wife returned in the evening, they found Naveen missing and began searching for him. Later, the body was recovered from a nearby forest area.
Police Investigation
Sandeep Kumar, officer-in-charge of Raidih police station, stated, “On seeing the body, it appeared that he was strangled to death by someone. There were deep marks on the right side of his head, neck, waist and right hand.” The family members alleged that Naveen was murdered and then dumped in the forest to conceal the crime. A written complaint was filed at the police station.
An FIR has been registered against unknown persons, and an investigation has been initiated. The motive behind the murder is still unclear. “Family members have not yet suspected anyone’s involvement in the crime. However, we have begun investigation in the case. Accused will be arrested soon,” the OC added.
