Sasaram: An 11-year-old boy was allegedly strangled following a dispute among children at Sikandarpur village under Chainpur police station area in Kaimur district on Wednesday evening, triggering shock and tension in the locality. The deceased was identified as Prince Kumar, son of Baban Gond.
According to police, Prince had gone to attend classes at a local coaching centre where an argument broke out between two children. Though the dispute appeared to subside during the session, it allegedly escalated after they left the institute. While returning home, barely 100 yards from his house, Prince was allegedly assaulted near the village.
The victim's family alleged that a village boy attacked Prince during the altercation and strangled him, leading to his death. The incident sent shockwaves through the village, prompting immediate police intervention.
Police reached the spot soon after receiving information and detained the accused minor for questioning. Officer-in-charge Ashok Kumar said, "The accused child is being interrogated and the exact circumstances leading to the death are under investigation. Preliminary findings suggest Prince lost his life during a physical confrontation. No formal written complaint has been received from the family so far."
Prince was rushed to Sadar hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead. Police personnel have been deployed in the village to maintain law and order.
Prince, the eldest in his family, is survived by his parents, a younger brother and two sisters. His death has left the family devastated and the village in mourning.
