Boyfriend, female friend arrested for woman's murder

VISAKHAPATNAM: Three days after the body of a 34-year-old woman was recovered from a local tank near Tumarada village of Palakonda mandal, the Parvathipuram Manyam district police arrested three persons, including the woman’s boyfriend and his female friend and one more person, for the murder.

The victim B Usha Rani was a native of Barna Seethampeta in Palakonda mandal. The arrested persons have been identified as R Bhuvaneswar, a native of M Singupuram, and his female friend T Kruparani and his friend S Tejeswara Rao.

When Usha Rani served as a volunteer under the earlier government, she formed a friendship with a fellow volunteer, Bhuvaneswar, and the two later entered a romantic relationship, and they planned their marriage.

However, Bhuvaneswar developed an illicit relationship with a married woman Kruparani, who is a contract nurse at a hospital in the locality.

Bhuvaneswar with the support of her female friend and another person planned the murder as Usha Rani was forcing him to marry her, and he decided to continue the affair with Kruparani.

As per the plan, Bhuvaneswar, together with Kruparani and Tejeswara Rao, took Usha Rani into their car and gave her a soft drink mixed with a sedative. Later, they strangled Usha Rani to death on June 6.

Initially, the trio disposed of the late Usha Rani in a local tank near Amudalavalasa in Srikakulam district on June 6 night. However, the body could still be seen because the water level in the tank was very low.

To conceal the murder, they retrieved the body from the tank, shifted to Tumarada village of Palakonda mandal in Manyam district, tied heavy stones to the body, and dumped the body in a local tank before fleeing, the police added.

The dead of the victim was found floating in the tank on June 9.

Based on a concrete clue, the police nabbed Bhuvaneswar, Kruparani and Tejeswara Rao for the murder, and the trio confessed to the crime, the police added.
