In a tragic incident in Karnataka, the parents of a bride-to-be died by suicide just a day before her wedding in Mysuru. The police have arrested a neighbour on charges of abetment to suicide.
What Happened
The couple, identified as Manjunath (45) and his wife Lakshmi (40), were found dead at their home in the Kuvempunagar area of Mysuru on Tuesday morning. They consumed poison, leaving behind a suicide note accusing their neighbour, Ravi, of constant harassment and threats.
Details of the Incident
The wedding was scheduled for Wednesday, and the family was preparing for the ceremony. According to police, the couple had been facing persistent issues with Ravi over a property dispute. The suicide note stated that Ravi had been threatening them and creating trouble, which drove them to take the extreme step.
Police inspector M. R. Kumar said, "The couple's daughter was to be married tomorrow. The neighbour had been harassing them over a land dispute. We have arrested Ravi based on the suicide note and preliminary investigation."
Impact on the Family
The bride-to-be, who is in her early 20s, was shattered upon discovering her parents' bodies. Relatives and neighbours gathered at the spot, with many expressing shock and grief. The wedding has been postponed indefinitely.
Local authorities have registered a case under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (abetment to suicide) against the neighbour. Further investigation is underway.
