Prayagraj: Panic gripped Nasratpur and adjoining villages under Soraon police station on Tuesday after a statue of Dr B R Ambedkar was found lying broken inside a school owned by a Congress leader. As news spread, hundreds of locals reached the spot and demanded installation of a new statue.
Incident Details
The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when locals spotted the broken statue. Senior police officers and administration officials pacified the agitators and the stir was called off only when local administration brought a new statue and installed it.
Police Investigation
A senior police officer said the school was locked from outside and there was no sign of anyone entering the campus. The authorities are investigating the matter further to determine the cause of the damage.
