Brother Killed in Violent Farm Dispute
A tragic family dispute over crop harvesting turned deadly in Chatra district, resulting in one brother killing another and subsequent arrest within 12 hours. The incident occurred on Sunday in Chani village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Lawalong police station.
The Fatal Confrontation
According to police reports, Jagdish Bhuiyan (38) allegedly attacked his younger brother Santosh Bhuiyan with a cane during a heated argument about harvesting crops. The violent confrontation escalated quickly from verbal exchanges to physical violence.
Police confirmed that Santosh died on the spot from the injuries sustained during the attack. Following the fatal assault, Jagdish immediately fled the scene, leaving behind the grieving family and shocked villagers.
Swift Police Action
Law enforcement authorities responded promptly by registering a case and forming a special investigation team. The team operated under the supervision of Simaria sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Shubham Khandelwal, demonstrating the seriousness with which the case was treated.
The police investigation led to the successful arrest of the accused on Monday, marking a swift resolution to the case within just 12 hours of the crime being committed. During the investigation, authorities recovered the stick used in the attack, which will serve as crucial evidence in the legal proceedings.

Prashant Kumar Mishra, the officer in-charge of Lawalong police station, provided an update on the case status. "The accused has been placed in judicial custody," stated Mishra, confirming that the legal process is now underway.
