Brothers Arrested in Ahmedabad Attempted Murder Case

The city crime branch in Ahmedabad arrested two brothers wanted in connection with an attempted murder case registered at Vastrapur police station. During a late-night operation near the riverfront in Danilimda, police recovered a country-made revolver from one of them.

Identification of the Accused

According to a complaint filed by a detection of crime branch (DCB) officer, the accused were identified as Sanjay Rabari, 32, a resident of Vastral, and his brother Mahesh Rabari, 34, a resident of Khokhra.

Background of the Case

Police said the duo was wanted in a case related to extortion offences. Acting on a tip-off received around 12:45 am on Sunday, a crime branch team laid a trap near Dhobi Ghat on Riverfront Road after learning that the brothers would be travelling in a grey car.

Arrest and Seizure

The vehicle was intercepted and both accused were detained. During questioning, the brothers allegedly admitted that they were absconding in the Vastrapur case while some of their associates were already arrested.

A search of Sanjay Rabari led to the recovery of a country-made revolver concealed in his waistband. Police said the firearm did not contain any cartridges. When asked to produce a licence or permit for possessing the weapon, he allegedly failed to do so. The revolver, valued at around Rs 20,000, and the car worth approximately Rs 8 lakh were seized during the operation. Mahesh Rabari was not found carrying any incriminating material.

Legal Action

Following the recovery, a fresh complaint under the Arms Act and Gujarat Police Act was registered against Sanjay Rabari.
