A somber cloud has descended over a family in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district after a serving Border Security Force (BSF) officer was tragically killed in a horrific road accident. The incident, which was captured on closed-circuit television, occurred at the Poshana toll booth under the jurisdiction of the Gudha Gorji police station on Sunday.
CCTV Captures Fatal Sequence of Events
The victim has been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Manoj Bhargava, a resident of Bhodki. According to police reports, Bhargava had recently returned to his hometown for a joyous occasion: his son's upcoming wedding. In preparation for the celebrations, he had traveled to Sikar to purchase jewellery. His return journey ended in unimaginable tragedy while he was waiting at the toll plaza to board a Rajasthan Roadways bus.
Preliminary investigations based on the CCTV footage reveal a chain of negligent actions. A bus arriving from Jhunjhunu, allegedly to avoid a long queue of vehicles, entered the wrong lane at the toll booth. As ASI Bhargava approached the bus to get on, the driver suddenly applied the brakes to let a passenger alight. In the ensuing confusion, when Bhargava attempted to board, the conductor shut the door and the driver accelerated the vehicle.
Wedding Preparations Halted by Grief
This sudden movement caused the BSF officer to lose his balance. He was tragically trapped between the bus and the toll booth structure, fell to the ground, and was run over by the same bus. He died on the spot, turning a moment of familial happiness into one of profound grief. The local police promptly conducted a post-mortem examination and handed over the body to the devastated family, who have now put all wedding preparations on hold.
Seeking justice, the son of the deceased officer has filed a formal case against both the bus driver and the conductor. The Gudha Gorji police have registered the case and an investigation is currently underway to determine the exact sequence of events and fix responsibility for the fatal lapse.
