The Chief Minister also strongly condemned the incident, noting that Mandal was "martyred while on patrol duty at Mongkot Chepu in Ukhrul district today, after being struck by a bullet fired from an unknown direction." He emphasized Mandal's service, stating, "Hailing from Bhagjan Tola village in West Bengal, constable Mandal served the nation with unwavering courage, dedication, and a deep sense of duty. His supreme sacrifice in the line of duty will always be remembered with the highest honour and gratitude."

Broader Implications for Security in Manipur
This incident underscores the ongoing tensions and security challenges in Manipur, particularly in districts like Ukhrul where clashes between ethnic groups have been reported. The death of a BSF constable on duty raises concerns about the safety of security personnel deployed in conflict-prone areas.
Authorities are likely to intensify patrols and security measures in the region to prevent further violence and protect both civilians and law enforcement officers. The state government's response highlights its focus on maintaining order and supporting the families of those who sacrifice their lives in service.
As investigations continue, the incident serves as a somber reminder of the risks faced by security forces in maintaining peace in volatile regions of India.
