BSF Initiates Operation Alert Along Indo-Pak Border in Jaisalmer for Republic Day Security

The Border Security Force (BSF) has launched a comprehensive security exercise named Operation Alert (Ops Alert) along the Indo-Pak border in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. This strategic initiative, which commenced on Thursday, is specifically designed to preempt and mitigate any potential threats during the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, ensuring national security remains uncompromised.

Operation Details and Leadership

Operation Alert is being conducted under the direct supervision of Rajasthan Frontier Inspector General M L Garg, with the exercise scheduled to continue until January 28. The primary objectives of this operation include identifying and addressing existing border security gaps, as well as deploying additional personnel to sensitive and vulnerable locations along the border. Officers and personnel from all branches of the BSF are actively participating in this coordinated effort, demonstrating a unified approach to border defense.

Challenges and Vigilance Measures

According to reports from border areas, the operation faces significant challenges due to severe winter conditions and dense fog, which have severely hampered visibility. Compounding these issues, there have been continuous reports of drone intrusions from across the border, particularly in the Ganganagar sector. In response, the BSF is maintaining strict vigilance to prevent any intrusions that might exploit the foggy conditions. Patrolling activities are being conducted with advanced weapons and surveillance systems to enhance effectiveness.

BSF sources have detailed that continuous vehicle and camel patrols are being carried out along the fencing to monitor the border closely. The intelligence wing of the BSF is working in close coordination with other agencies to monitor and analyze suspicious activities, ensuring a proactive stance against potential threats. As part of Operation Alert, BSF personnel have been stationed at all border outposts, and both day and night border domination exercises are currently underway to reinforce security protocols.

Enhanced Coordination and Modern Tactics

The force is actively reviewing and refining its tactics while strengthening internal coordination among various units. This includes the utilization of modern weapons and advanced surveillance systems as integral components of its four-layer security grid. Additionally, joint patrolling with local police forces is being conducted in areas near the border to ensure a seamless security apparatus.

Police Collaboration and Security Measures

Jaisalmer Superintendent of Police Abhishek Shivhare has emphasized the close coordination between the police and the BSF. He stated that strict security measures have been implemented in border areas, with vigilance significantly increased at all police stations, bus stands, railway stations, and accommodation facilities. The police are fully prepared to handle any challenges that may arise, working in tandem with the BSF to safeguard the region during this critical period.

Operation Alert represents a robust and multi-faceted approach to border security, combining traditional methods with modern technology to address evolving threats. As Republic Day approaches, these efforts underscore the commitment of security forces to maintain peace and security along the Indo-Pak border in Jaisalmer.
