Buldhana Case: Father, Brother Allege Police Assault

The Shivani Kalmekar case in Buldhana district has taken another dramatic turn. The father and brother of the woman, who was earlier presumed dead and later found alive, have accused the police of physical assault to force a confession for a crime they did not commit. They also alleged that the police demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh.

Video Statement Alleging Police Brutality

In a video statement, Shivani's father Bapurao and brother Ajay claimed they were forcibly taken by the police to a forest and subjected to physical abuse to extract a false confession. They alleged that when they refused to admit to the crime, they were beaten with sticks. The father and son also claimed that they were asked to pay Rs 5 lakh in exchange for relief in the case.

Inquiry Initiated by Deputy Superintendent of Police

The inquiry into the matter has been assigned to Deputy Superintendent of Police Manisha Kadam from Deulgaon Raja. Speaking to TOI, she said a preliminary inquiry has been initiated and statements of all concerned individuals are being recorded. "The inquiry will be completed within three to four days, and a report will be submitted to senior officials," she said.
