Sleeper Bus Overturns on Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Claims One Life and Injures 30 Passengers
A devastating road accident unfolded on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in the Bangarmau area of Unnao on Monday morning, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to around 30 passengers. The incident involved a sleeper bus that was en route to Lucknow, overturning after a catastrophic collision with a divider.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The accident occurred near Naseerpur village on the expressway. According to sources, the bus was returning from an event held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. The driver reportedly dozed off while at the wheel, leading to a loss of control over the vehicle. This negligence caused the bus to crash violently into a divider and overturn.
The impact of the collision was so severe that it resulted in the wheels of the bus detaching along with the rims. The force of the crash killed a 55-year-old woman on the spot, identified as Tarawati, wife of Tribhuvan, a resident of the Gosaiganj area in Lucknow. Many other passengers sustained injuries, with some reported to be in critical condition.
Rescue and Response Efforts
Upon receiving information about the accident, police and UPEIDA teams promptly reached the scene. With the assistance of locals, they initiated rescue operations to help passengers trapped inside the overturned bus. The injured were first taken to CHC Bangarmau for primary treatment. After initial medical care, all injured individuals were referred to the district hospital for further attention.
Drivers of vehicles passing by the accident site were instrumental in alerting the authorities, facilitating a quicker response. The collaborative efforts of emergency responders and community members were crucial in managing the aftermath of this tragic event.

"In the preliminary investigation, the driver's negligence was cited as the main cause of the accident," he confirmed.
