Buxar Police Thwart Major Ganja Smuggling Attempt

Police in Buxar district successfully disrupted a significant drug smuggling operation on Wednesday. Officers seized twenty-two kilograms of ganja during a targeted raid in the Naya Bhojpur police station area. The action led to the immediate arrest of two suspected smugglers, though other members of their gang evaded capture by fleeing the scene.

Tip-Off Leads to Swift Police Action

Buxar Superintendent of Police Shubham Arya revealed that authorities received specific intelligence about the smuggling activity. The tip indicated that a large consignment of ganja was being loaded into vehicles under the Naya Bhojpur bridge. A white car and a black-and-yellow autorickshaw were reportedly involved in the operation.

"We verified the information quickly," SP Arya stated. "Then we formed a special team under Dumraon Sub-Divisional Police Officer Polast Kumar to handle the situation."

Raiders Confront Smugglers at the Bridge

The police team swiftly cordoned off the area around the bridge and launched their raid. Upon seeing the approaching officers, the accused individuals attempted to escape. Police managed to apprehend two of them right at the spot. A thorough search of both the car and the autorickshaw yielded the substantial haul of twenty-two kilograms of ganja.

In addition to the narcotics, authorities confiscated the two vehicles used in the smuggling attempt. They also seized two mobile phones from the location.

Identities of the Arrested Revealed

The arrested individuals have been identified as Akhilesh Kumar Yadav and Harendra Mali. Both men are residents of Dullahapur village, which falls under the Simri police station area in Buxar district. Akhilesh is the son of Vidyasagar Yadav, while Harendra is the son of Chunalal Mali.

Ongoing Investigation and Zero-Tolerance Stance

Police have registered a formal case at the Naya Bhojpur police station. Legal proceedings against the arrested accused are now underway. SP Arya emphasized that raids are actively being conducted to locate and arrest the remaining gang members who managed to escape.

"Buxar police are committed to a strict zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking," the SP asserted. He confirmed that a special district-wide drive targeting narcotics is currently in progress. This successful interception demonstrates the ongoing efforts to curb the illegal drug trade in the region.
