Buxar Police Uncover Illegal Arms and Liquor Stockpile Ahead of Holi Festival

In a significant pre-emptive operation, police in Buxar district have made a substantial seizure of illegal weapons and a large quantity of liquor, disrupting potential illicit activities planned for the upcoming Holi festival. The raid, conducted near Nihalpur Pond under the Sikraul police station area, resulted in the confiscation of dangerous contraband.

Details of the Seized Items

According to Dumraon Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Polast Kumar, who announced the findings on Sunday, the haul included:

  • Two country-made pistols
  • One country-made rifle
  • Seven live cartridges
  • 1,311 liters of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL)

All items were discovered hidden within a hut located in the vicinity of Nihalpur Pond, indicating a covert storage operation.

Intelligence-Driven Operation

The police action was initiated based on specific and credible intelligence received by authorities. SDPO Polast Kumar revealed that informants had alerted the police about a group of individuals who had amassed a significant stockpile of liquor near Nihalpur Pond. The illicit stock was reportedly intended for sale during the Holi celebrations, taking advantage of the increased demand during the festive season.

Furthermore, the tip-off also raised suspicions about the possible presence of illegal firearms at the location, prompting a more thorough investigation. Upon receiving this critical information, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Buxar promptly authorized the formation of a specialized task force. This team was placed under the direct supervision and leadership of SDPO Polast Kumar, with clear instructions to verify the intelligence and execute necessary legal actions.

Execution and Implications

The police team conducted a swift and coordinated raid on the suspected hut, leading to the successful recovery of the arms and liquor. This operation not only prevented the potential distribution of illegal alcohol during Holi but also neutralized a cache of weapons that could have been used for criminal activities. The seizure underscores the proactive measures taken by law enforcement to maintain public order and safety, especially during major festivals when such illegal trades often peak.

Authorities are now intensifying their efforts to identify and apprehend the individuals involved in this illicit stockpiling. The case highlights the ongoing challenges of combating the illegal arms and liquor trade in the region, and police have vowed to continue such vigilance to deter similar activities in the future.
