Buxar: Woman, Kids Hospitalized After Pesticide Incident

Tragedy Strikes Buxar Village as Family Consumes Pesticide

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Rasen village under the Rajpur police station area of Buxar district on Wednesday. Police report that a woman allegedly attempted suicide along with her three young children by consuming pesticide. The family's ordeal has left the local community in shock.

One Child Dies, Others Fight for Life

Tragically, three-year-old Arjun Kumar lost his life in this incident. His mother, twenty-six-year-old Ruby Devi, and her two other children remain in critical condition. Six-year-old Karan Kumar and two-year-old Radha are currently undergoing intensive treatment at Buxar Sadar Hospital. Medical staff are working tirelessly to stabilize their conditions.

Police officials confirmed the children's ages and identities. They stated that all three victims were rushed to the hospital immediately after the incident was discovered. The hospital has mobilized its best resources to provide necessary care.

Family Background Reveals Complex History

Investigations into the family's background reveal a complicated personal history. Ruby Devi first married Rajkumar Chauhan, who passed away in 2020. The following year, she remarried her brother-in-law, Jitendra Chauhan. Her children come from both marriages.

Karan Kumar is Ruby's eldest child from her first marriage. The deceased Arjun Kumar and the hospitalized Radha are both children from her second marriage. This blended family structure has become a focus of the ongoing police investigation.

Husband's Account and Previous Incident

Jitendra Chauhan, currently working at a factory in Delhi, shared crucial information with authorities. He had returned to the village specifically for Makar Sankranti celebrations when this tragedy occurred. His statement provides important context about previous troubles.

"Ruby had also attempted suicide by consuming poison the day before the incident," Jitendra revealed. He explained that police were informed through the 112 emergency helpline at that time. After counseling sessions, the matter appeared resolved temporarily.

Police Investigation Underway

Rajpur police station's SHO Niwas Kumar provided details about their investigation. Preliminary findings suggest Ruby Devi obtained pesticide commonly used for crop spraying. She apparently consumed it first before administering it to her three children.

"The police are investigating where and how the pesticide was obtained," stated SHO Kumar. He confirmed that a dedicated police team has been dispatched to the hospital to gather more information. Officers are interviewing family members and villagers to understand the complete sequence of events.

Three surviving family members continue to receive medical treatment while police conduct their investigation. Authorities emphasize they will pursue all necessary legal actions once the treatment phase concludes. The case remains open as investigators work to determine all contributing factors.

Local residents express deep concern about this tragic event. Community leaders have called for increased mental health support in rural areas. The incident highlights the need for better crisis intervention systems in district communities.
