Kolkata: An advocates' association on Wednesday moved the Calcutta High Court challenging the closure of Red Road and adjoining roads for seven days in connection with celebrations for International Yoga Day on Sunday.
Arguments Presented in Court
The counsel submitted that the association has questioned the traffic notification that allegedly provided for such closure involving around an hour and fifteen minutes of yoga on Sunday. The counsel argued that extensive restrictions have been imposed on public movement.
Plea for Reasonable Access
The association sought the court's direction to the authorities to ensure reasonable uninterrupted pedestrian and vehicle access to Red Road and connected areas. The court allowed the counsel to move the plea after serving notice to all parties.
