Case Filed Against Scooter Rider for Urinating in Bhopal

Shahjehanabad police in Bhopal registered a case against a scooter rider on Friday after a video of him allegedly urinating on a footpath near Taj Market went viral on social media. The incident came to light when the video surfaced on WhatsApp groups and other social media platforms on May 29.

Viral Video and Police Action

The video showed a man standing by the roadside near Taj Market and allegedly urinating in public around 3 pm, while his companion remained seated on a scooter. Taking cognizance of the matter, police traced the scooter through its registration number. An MP Vehicle Portal search revealed that the vehicle is registered in the name of Ashok Sonwane, a resident of Sudama Nagar.

Legal Provisions Invoked

Police stated that the act amounted to public nuisance and was punishable under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Based on the video evidence, Shahjahanabad police registered a case under Section 296 (obscene act) and Section 270 (public nuisance) of BNS and launched a further investigation.

Police are verifying the identities of other persons seen in the video and examining the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have urged citizens to refrain from such acts and reminded them of the legal consequences of public nuisance.
