Vacation Judge Surendra Mohit Singh allowed the CBI's application to question accused Manisha Waghmare, Shubham Khairnar, and Dhananjay Lokhande for one hour each. The court also extended the judicial custody of nine accused, including Mangilal Biwal, Vikas Biwal, Dinesh Biwal, Dhananjay Lokhande, Shubham Khairnar, Dr. Manoj Shirure, Tejas Harshad Kumar, Manisha Waghmare, and Manisa Hawaldar, until June 29.
Production via Video Conferencing
All accused were produced before the court through video conferencing from Tihar Jail. Senior Public Prosecutor V.K. Pathak and Investigation Officer B.P. Raju represented the CBI during the proceedings.
New Developments in the Case
The CBI informed the court that fresh facts have emerged from witness statements, necessitating verification with the three accused. An FIR was registered on May 12 based on a complaint by a government official under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Prevention of Corruption Act, and laws against unfair examination practices.
Alleged Chain of Leak
According to the CBI, Mangilal Biwal contacted Shubham Khairnar to obtain the NEET-UG question paper for his son, Vikas Biwal. The leaked paper was later recovered from Mangilal's mobile phone. Mangilal allegedly received the paper from Yash Yadav for Rs 10 lakh. Vikas confessed to meeting Yash during coaching in Sikar, Rajasthan. It is also alleged that Mangilal sold the paper to other aspirants for Rs 12 lakh. Shubham is accused of leaking the paper to Yash, who then passed it to Mangilal, Vikas, and Dinesh Biwal.
