The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is expected to submit its chargesheet in the death of 19-year-old teacher Manisha on August 14, 2026, nearly a year after her disappearance and death. Her father, Sanjay Kumar, told mediapersons in Bhiwani on July 26 that CBI officials had assured him of the filing date during a recent meeting.
Background of the Case
Manisha, a resident of Dhani Laxman village in Bhiwani district, went missing on August 11, 2025. Her body was found under suspicious circumstances near a canal in neighboring Singhani village on August 13, 2025. The case sparked widespread public outrage, with village panchayats and protests demanding justice and action against those responsible.
Following sustained pressure, the Haryana government transferred the investigation to the CBI. However, allegations of a slow-paced probe led to fresh resentment, with Sanjay threatening an indefinite strike. Subsequently, Bhiwani Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar assured the family that arrangements would be made for them to meet the CBI investigation team.
Investigation and Family's Demands
Sanjay said a five-member committee representing the family met CBI officials, along with the SP and DSP, on July 14. The meeting lasted about one and a half hours, during which the CBI requested 20 days to complete crucial aspects of the investigation.
According to Sanjay, the agency is currently analyzing medical evidence and college CCTV footage.
