CBI Raids Rashtriya Military School Belagavi

A CBI team raided Rashtriya Military School (RMS), Belagavi, on Wednesday morning as part of an investigation into alleged financial irregularities. The operation continued through the evening and may extend into Thursday, sources said.

Details of the Raid

The team comprised around 12 officials led by a deputy superintendent of police, along with four personnel from military intelligence. They examined documents and questioned school authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.

Allegations and Background

The raid is linked to allegations of financial improprieties, irregularities in procurement procedures, and possible misuse of funds over several years. The probe follows a complaint filed with the Ministry of Defence by whistleblower and RMS alumnus Manjunath Banashankari.

In his complaint, Banashankari sought urgent intervention, calling for disclosure of financial records, a comprehensive audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), and an independent inquiry into the institution’s financial and administrative functioning over the past five to eight years.

Attempts to contact RMS principal Lt Col Seema Bisht were unsuccessful.
