The Chandigarh police arrested a person with heroin from Sector 26 on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Baljit alias Chitta of Bapudham Colony, was apprehended by a patrolling police team near the Timber market in Sector 26.
According to officials, Baljit attempted to flee upon noticing the police, but the team chased him down and successfully detained him. During a thorough search, the police recovered over 10 grams of heroin from his bag. The contraband was seized, and a case was registered against him.
After his arrest, Baljit was produced before a local court, which remanded him to judicial custody. The police are investigating further to trace the source of the heroin.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the Chandigarh police to curb drug trafficking in the city. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
