Chandigarh Police Launch Investigations into Three Separate Deaths Within 24 Hours
Chandigarh Police have initiated detailed investigations following the discovery of three deceased individuals in different parts of the city within a span of just 24 hours. The incidents, which occurred in Sector 15, Ramdarbar Phase 2, and near the Sector 28/29 light point, have raised concerns and prompted thorough forensic examinations.
Sector 15 Park Incident: Suspected Murder Case
In the most alarming case, police in Sector 11 are treating the death of an unidentified man found on a park bench in Sector 15 as a suspected murder. The victim, believed to be around 40 years old, was discovered with visible head injuries and bloodstains on the bench and surrounding ground. A shopkeeper from the nearby book market area alerted authorities after noticing the motionless man.
Investigators found several crucial pieces of evidence at the scene, including a broken helmet with bloodstains, a water bottle, and personal belongings on an adjacent bench. The presence of blood on the helmet fragment has led police to suspect the victim may have been struck with the object, though they emphasize that definitive conclusions await postmortem examination results.
The Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) team from Sector 36 conducted a thorough examination of the location. The body has been preserved at the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 16 (GMSH-16) mortuary, where an autopsy will be performed once the deceased's identity is established. Sector 11 police have collected additional evidence from the green belt area and continue their investigation.
Two Additional Deaths Reported in Separate Locations
In a separate incident, Sector 31 police responded to reports of an unconscious individual near the bank side of Ramdarbar Phase 2 market. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the person—identified as a beggar—had died. Authorities were unable to establish his identity and have initiated standard inquest proceedings to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
The third case involved an unidentified man found unconscious near the Sector 28/29 light point by a passerby who alerted police. The Industrial Area Phase 1 police team confirmed the individual had died upon reaching the location. Preliminary information suggests the deceased had a history of alcohol consumption. His body has been transferred to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32 (GMCH-32) mortuary for autopsy procedures.
Ongoing Investigations and Forensic Analysis
Chandigarh Police have confirmed that investigations are actively progressing in all three cases. The simultaneous occurrence of these deaths within such a short timeframe has prompted authorities to examine potential connections while maintaining separate investigative tracks for each incident.
Forensic teams are working to establish causes of death through detailed postmortem examinations, while identification efforts continue for the unnamed victims. Police officials have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward as they piece together the events leading to these tragic occurrences across Chandigarh.
