Chandrapur: In a significant breakthrough under Operation Shodh-4, the city police successfully traced a minor girl who had been missing for nearly a year and apprehended the accused from Nagpur district. The operation was carried out by the anti-human trafficking unit (AHTU) and local crime branch (LCB) during the investigation of a crime registered at Chimur police station.
Investigation and Technical Surveillance
Investigators relied on technical surveillance and analyzed a mobile phone number linked to the suspect. The probe revealed that the number was active in Gumthala village in Kamptee taluka of Nagpur district. Police then conducted a detailed examination of call detail records and other digital evidence to track the movements of those involved.
Search Operation and Arrest
Based on the intelligence gathered, a police team launched a search operation and located the minor girl along with the accused, identified as Sargam Keshav Bawane (25), a resident of Motegaon in Chimur taluka. Both were taken into custody from Gumthala on Monday.
The duo was subsequently handed over to Chimur police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Success in Resolving Long-Pending Case
Officials said the operation marked an important success in resolving a case that had remained pending for almost a year. The action was jointly executed by the AHTU, LCB, and cyber cell of Chandrapur Police.
