Chandrapur Teacher Arrested for Indecent Behaviour with Multiple Girl Students
A male teacher from a prominent school under the jurisdiction of the Chandrapur city police station has been arrested for alleged indecent behaviour with girl students. The investigation has confirmed the teacher's vulgar advances toward six Class 8 girls, with police authorities indicating a strong possibility of more victims emerging due to his long association with the educational institution.
Details of the Allegations and Arrest
The accused teacher, identified as Govardhan Gondane, has been serving at the school for many years, which has raised concerns about potential additional victims over this extended period. The Chandrapur city police received specific information regarding Gondane's alleged misconduct with students in his classroom, prompting immediate action.
Superintendent of Police Mummakka Sudarshan, recognizing the seriousness of the allegations, directed a discreet and thorough probe into the matter. As part of this investigation, a woman police officer visited the school undercover to conduct initial inquiries without alerting the suspect.
Investigation Process and Evidence Collection
Upon finding preliminary evidence supporting the allegations, the Women and Child Development Department became actively involved in the case. Department officials conducted detailed interviews with the school girls, during which six students provided explicit accounts of the teacher's inappropriate actions.
According to the victims' statements, Gondane engaged in multiple forms of misconduct including:
- Leering at girls during regular classroom lessons
- Inappropriately touching students under the guise of providing encouragement
- Placing his hands on their thighs during interactions
- Summoning individual students to the computer lab for lewd acts
Legal Proceedings and Custody Status
The accused teacher was formally arrested and produced before the court on Friday, where he was remanded to two days of police custody for further interrogation. Following this initial custody period, the court on Saturday remanded Gondane to judicial custody as the investigation continues to unfold.
Authorities have expressed particular concern about the possibility that Gondane may have targeted other students over the years, given his long-standing position at the institution. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify any additional victims and gather further evidence related to the case.
