Tragic Accident on Chatra-Gaya Main Road Claims Driver's Life
A devastating road accident occurred early Friday morning on the Chatra-Gaya Main Road in Jharkhand, resulting in the death of a truck driver and causing significant traffic disruption. The incident took place near a bend in the Sanghri Valley area under the jurisdiction of the Jori police station.
Chain Collision and Traffic Chaos
The accident unfolded around 6 am when a coal-laden truck, driven by 30-year-old Aditya Rana from Seram Pandariya village in Latehar district, overturned. Police suspect that Rana lost control of the vehicle while navigating the bend. As the truck toppled, it set off a chain reaction, with several following vehicles unable to brake in time and crashing into each other.
This series of collisions left multiple vehicles severely damaged and created a massive traffic jam that stretched for hours on both sides of the road. The congestion trapped numerous vehicles, including buses and ambulances, exacerbating the situation.
Immediate Aftermath and Police Response
Tragically, Aditya Rana was pronounced dead at the scene. "The driver was killed on the spot. Traffic was restored after two hours as it took cranes to remove the damaged vehicles," stated Awadhesh Kumar Singh, the officer-in-charge of Chatra Sadar police station.
Following a postmortem examination at Chatra Sadar Hospital, Rana's body was handed over to his grieving family. "Investigation is underway to ascertain the reason behind the accident," added OC Singh, highlighting the ongoing efforts to determine the exact cause.
Recurring Safety Concerns in Sanghri Valley
This incident is not isolated. Just last week, a bus traveling from Bihar to Raigarh in Madhya Pradesh overturned in the same valley, injuring several passengers. The frequency of such accidents has raised serious concerns about road safety in the area.
In response, Chatra MLA Janardan Paswan has vowed to address the issue. He announced plans to advocate for road widening through the valley and intends to raise this demand in the state assembly to prevent future tragedies.
The accident underscores the urgent need for improved infrastructure and stricter safety measures on this crucial stretch of road, which serves as a vital transport link in the region.
