Dubai Agency Owner Held in Chennai for Abducting Ex-Employee Over 47 Lakh Dispute
Chennai: Dubai agency owner arrested for abduction over salary row

In a dramatic turn of events stemming from a protracted financial dispute, Chennai police arrested a Dubai-based manpower agency owner and his relative for the alleged abduction of a former employee and his girlfriend. The case, which unfolded over several days, highlights a severe fallout over unpaid salaries and alleged misappropriation of funds.

The Core of the Dispute: Unpaid Salary and Alleged Embezzlement

The victim, identified as K Sarathkumar, 29, from Subramaniyapuram in Trichy, had been working as an accountant for the Apple Star Contracting Manpower Agency for seven years. According to police reports, Sarathkumar claimed he had not received his salary for a period of six months. Following this, he allegedly misappropriated approximately Rs 47 lakh from the agency's bank account, an act that set the stage for the subsequent confrontation.

The Abduction and Police Intervention

The situation escalated when Sarathkumar and his girlfriend travelled to Chennai on December 26. The agency owner, P Jayamohan, 38, who operates his business from Dubai, and his brother-in-law, V Arun Pandian, 31, from Sivaganga district, allegedly attempted to forcibly take the couple away. Police, acting on information, intervened at that time and let the parties go.

However, the conflict reached a critical point on Sunday, when the couple was reportedly abducted. Chennai police launched a rescue operation and successfully recovered Sarathkumar and his girlfriend by late night. The investigation led to the arrest of the two accused, Jayamohan and Pandian, on Tuesday.

Aftermath and Legal Proceedings

The arrest of the Dubai-based businessman and his associate underscores the serious legal consequences of taking the law into one's own hands, even in complex financial disagreements. The case is now under further investigation as authorities piece together the complete sequence of events, including the initial salary dispute and the subsequent allegations of fund misappropriation. This incident serves as a stark reminder for both employers and employees to seek legal recourse for financial disputes rather than resorting to unlawful measures.
