The Ashok Nagar police in Chennai arrested a man for allegedly using his minor son to peddle ganja. While the man was arrested and remanded in judicial custody, his son was sent to the government observation home in Kellys.
Tip-off Leads to Discovery
The case came to light after officers received a tip-off about ganja being sold in the Ashok Nagar area. Police intensified surveillance and detained a man found smoking ganja in public. Inquiry revealed that he purchased the narcotic substance from a boy at a public park in the neighbourhood.
Investigation Uncovers Father-Son Operation
A special team found the boy and questioned him. Inquiry revealed that a ganja supply operation was being run by his father, who had 15 previous criminal cases against him, including those under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The man went into hiding after learning about the inquiry. When officers visited his residence to investigate, his differently abled wife attempted to stop the police personnel by setting their pet dog on them. The man was eventually arrested. He had been packing ganja parcels at his residence and distributing them through his son to customers in the locality, police said.
