A tragic road accident on the busy Vandalur-Kelambakkam Road in Chennai late Saturday night claimed the life of a Class XI student and left two of his classmates with severe injuries. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community in Kolapakkam.

The accident occurred near a petrol bunk in the Kolapakkam area. Ranjith, a 16-year-old student from Peerkankaranai Government Higher Secondary School, was riding a motorcycle at high speed with his classmates, Vetri Vel and Sarvesh. According to police reports, the students were riding recklessly when their bike collided head-on with a car coming from the opposite direction.
Ranjith succumbed to his injuries on the spot. His two pillion riders, Vetri Vel and Sarvesh, sustained serious wounds and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. All three teenagers were residents of Kolapakkam near Vandalur.
Arrest and Ongoing Investigation
The driver of the car, identified as Vasanthakumar (35), a resident of Thazhambur, was arrested at the scene by officers from the Guduvanchery traffic investigation wing.
