Three Children's 24-Hour Ordeal Ends as Police Reunite Them with Family in Varanasi
In a harrowing incident that unfolded over 24 hours, three children from Varanasi went missing after attending school, causing immense panic for their family members. The children, who study at St Xavier School in Bechupur, did not return home on Monday afternoon, prompting a frantic search that culminated in their safe recovery with the help of police from two districts.
Panic and Search Efforts
The children, residents of Nai Basti Circus Road under the Mughalsarai police station in Chandauli district, were last seen leaving their school. When they failed to return home by late afternoon, their family members initiated a desperate search. Unable to locate them, the family reported the matter to the police, setting off an official investigation.
Chandauli CO (PDDU Nagar) Arun Kumar Singh spearheaded the efforts, coordinating with local authorities to trace the missing children. Police reviewed footage from CCTV cameras installed on various routes, which revealed crucial evidence: the children were spotted heading towards a bus stand where buses depart for Ghazipur.
Police Intervention and Recovery
Upon identifying the children's likely destination, police in Chandauli alerted their counterparts in the neighbouring district of Ghazipur. The Kotwali police in Ghazipur swiftly acted on the information and successfully located the children on Tuesday. They were brought back to Chandauli, ending the 24-hour ordeal that had left their family in a state of distress.
When questioned by police about their unexpected journey, the children disclosed a troubling reason for their detour. They explained that their father is an alcoholic and frequently quarrels with their mother, leading them to seek refuge at their maternal grandparents' home in Ghazipur. This revelation highlighted underlying family conflicts that had driven the children to take such a drastic step.
Aftermath and Police Advice
Following the recovery, police issued a stern warning to the parents, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a peaceful home environment for the well-being of their children. They advised the family to address their issues constructively to prevent similar incidents in the future. The incident underscores the critical role of community vigilance and prompt police action in ensuring child safety.
This case serves as a reminder of how domestic tensions can impact young lives, prompting authorities to advocate for harmony within households. The successful resolution, aided by technological tools like CCTV surveillance, demonstrates the effectiveness of inter-district police cooperation in handling such emergencies.
