CISF Launches Major Coastal Cycling Expedition to Boost Security Awareness

In a significant national initiative, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is gearing up for its second Coastal Cyclothon. This ambitious event will see 130 dedicated CISF personnel embark on a remarkable journey. Among these participants, 65 are women, showcasing the force's commitment to gender inclusion.

Pedaling for Patriotism and Preparedness

The cyclists will cover an impressive distance of 6,553 kilometers. They will traverse India's entire mainland coastline over 25 action-packed days. The expedition kicks off on January 28, with teams cycling along both the eastern and western seaboards.

The primary goal is to engage directly with coastal communities. CISF personnel will interact with residents of seaside villages and towns. They aim to raise crucial awareness about coastal security threats. The focus includes educating people on preparedness measures to counter potential dangers.

Celebrating Vande Mataram's Legacy

This year holds special significance as it marks the 150th anniversary of the national song 'Vande Mataram'. The CISF cyclothon will actively spread the patriotic essence of this beloved song. Organizers emphasize that the event seeks to instill a strong feeling of national unity. It also encourages active community participation in safeguarding the nation's shores.

Junior Minister in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, will virtually flag off the CISF Vande Mataram Coastal Cyclothon. The ceremony will take place from the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi.

Two Teams, One Mission: Converging in Kochi

The expedition will feature two separate teams of CISF personnel. One team will start from Lakhpat Fort in Kachchh, Gujarat. They will cycle along the picturesque western coast. The other team begins its journey from Bakkhali in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. This group will pedal along the eastern coastline.

Both teams have a common destination: Kochi. They are scheduled to converge in this coastal city on February 22, completing their monumental ride.

Strengthening Coastal Security Networks

Throughout the cyclothon, CISF personnel will conduct sensitization programs. They will highlight specific threats facing coastal regions. These include the smuggling of dangerous items like drugs, weapons, and explosives. The force aims to encourage greater vigilance among local populations.

A key objective is to strengthen partnerships between coastal communities and security agencies. By fostering collaboration, the CISF hopes to build a more robust and responsive coastal security network. This initiative represents a proactive approach to national safety, combining physical endurance with public outreach.
