A police constable has been arrested in Coimbatore district on charges of deceiving a 29-year-old woman by hiding his marriage, maintaining a fraudulent relationship with her, and forcing her to undergo abortions.

Details of the Case

The accused, Udhayakumar, 37, of Anamalai, is a constable in the Coimbatore district armed reserve police. He entered into a relationship with the woman from the Perur area by claiming to love her and promising to marry her. He allegedly maintained a physical relationship with her. When she became pregnant, he took her to a private clinic several times and forced her to undergo abortions.

Discovery and Threats

Later, the woman discovered that Udhayakumar was married. When she confronted him, he allegedly threatened to release her private videos online.

Legal Action

The woman then filed a complaint at the Perur all-women police station. After a preliminary inquiry into allegations of cheating, forced abortion, and criminal intimidation, police registered a case and arrested him on Tuesday. Further investigations are under way.
