Coimbatore Police Nab Six in Brutal Attempted Murder Case Over Financial Dispute
In a swift operation, the Perur police in Coimbatore apprehended a six-member gang on Saturday night for their alleged involvement in an attempted murder stemming from a money-related conflict. The incident, which unfolded near the Western Ring Road, has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Victim Lured Under False Pretenses Before Attack
According to police officials, the victim, identified as Sujithkumar, a 37-year-old resident of G V Garden in Kuppanur near Madampatti, was invited by his so-called friends for a casual drinking session. The group, including K Sanjeev (19), S Sanjay (20), V Sanjeev (19), and Kaushik (19), gathered in the vicinity of Theethipalayam Government Middle School along the Western Ring Road.
What began as a social gathering quickly turned violent when three additional individuals—S Sathguru (23), K Chandru (22), and S Arun (24)—confronted Sujithkumar, demanding repayment of borrowed funds. An intense argument erupted, escalating rapidly into a physical assault.
Knife Attack and Abandonment at Hospital
During the altercation, Chandru allegedly brandished a knife and struck Sujithkumar on the head, causing severe injuries. Arun and others joined in, brutally assaulting him until he collapsed unconscious at the scene. In a callous move, the gang then placed the injured man on a motorcycle, transported him to a private hospital in Madampatti, and abandoned him before fleeing.
Quick-thinking bystanders intervened, rescuing Sujithkumar and rushing him to Coimbatore Government Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment for his wounds. His condition is reported to be stable under observation.
Police Action and Judicial Custody
Acting on Sujithkumar's detailed statement, the Perur police launched an immediate investigation, leading to the arrest of all six accused: K Sanjeev, S Sanjay, V Sanjeev, Kaushik, Chandru, and Sathguru. The youths have been remanded to judicial custody as legal proceedings advance.
This case highlights the dangers of unresolved financial disputes escalating into violence, prompting authorities to urge the public to seek peaceful resolutions through proper channels. The police have assured continued vigilance to prevent such incidents in the future.
