Highway Safety Concerns and Administrative Measures
This tragic event has reignited concerns over road safety on the 12-kilometer stretch between Ranchi and Ramgarh, which is notorious for being an accident-prone zone. Faiz Aq Ahmad Mumtaz, the deputy commissioner of Ramgarh, highlighted that the administration and the National Highway Authority of India Limited (NHAI) have implemented several measures to curb accidents. These include widening the highway, installing bilingual accident alert signage, and adding rubber strips to control vehicle speeds.
Ekta Kumari, project director of NHAI, pointed out that over-speeding is a primary cause of frequent accidents in the area. In response, authorities are planning to install speedometers in coordination with the local administration to monitor and regulate vehicle speeds in the valley, aiming to prevent such tragedies in the future.
The community and officials are urging for stricter enforcement of traffic rules and enhanced safety protocols on this hazardous stretch to protect lives and ensure safer travel for all motorists.
