A couple living in a live-in relationship has been booked for allegedly dumping an aborted foetus near a cremation ground in Hisar town. Police have arrested the 29-year-old man, identified as Anil, in connection with the case, according to a report by Deepender Deswal for Tribune News Service on July 9, 2026.

Incident Details

According to police, the accused told investigators that he had arranged an abortion for his girlfriend due to fear of social stigma and was on his way to dump the foetus when he was intercepted. The couple, both residents of Niyana village, had been living together in Rishi Nagar locality for the past few years. During this period, the woman became pregnant.

Police said that Anil admitted that they had mutually decided to terminate the pregnancy because of societal pressure. He was caught by police while allegedly trying to dispose of the foetus in bushes near the cremation ground.

Legal Action

A case has been registered against both individuals. The foetus has been sent to the Civil Hospital for further examination and to complete legal formalities. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the abortion and the disposal of the remains.
