Couple Held for Thrashing Priest in Kurukshetra

Kurukshetra police have arrested a couple for brutally thrashing a temple priest in Adhoni village. The victim, Baba Yogiraj Giri, aged 74, hails from Uttarakhand.

Incident Details

According to Kurukshetra police spokesperson Paramjeet Singh, Sarpanch of Adhoni gram panchayat, on Thursday informed the police that Pankaj and his wife Manpreet had assaulted the village temple priest. A case was registered at the Sadar Thanesar police station.

Accused Pankaj’s house is situated opposite the temple, and he has established a shrine dedicated to ‘Nakodar Peer’ at the rear of his house. He claims to be the ‘Sevadar’ of the ‘Peer’. Police investigations revealed that Pankaj harboured a long-standing grudge against the temple priest and had previously threatened to kill him whenever he stepped out of the temple.

Arrest and Legal Action

The couple was taken into custody following the complaint. Police have initiated legal proceedings under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is ongoing to ascertain the exact motive behind the attack.
